Exams
The Council of the College requires successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care (CBRC) National Certification Examination. In addition, the CRTO also
accepts the formerly offered Core Competencies Evaluation (CCE) for entry to practice requirements, however since December 2003 the CCE is no longer administered.
Individuals will initially be allowed up to three attempts to write the CBRC exam. For each subsequent attempt, the exam candidate must submit to the College an upgrading study plan for review and approval. The purpose of the review is to verify that the individual has undertaken a systematic approach in preparing to re-write the exam and to provide feedback concerning the content of the study plan which may assist him/her in being successful. Once the course of study is completed, the individual must notify the Registrar.
