Inactive Status
Members in the General and Limited classes may maintain their certificates of registration as either active or inactive. Members who are inactive are not permitted to “engage in the practice” of respiratory therapy or respiratory care or to serve as a Council or Non-Council Member of the College.
An inactive Member shall not:
· provide direct patient care within the scope of practice of the profession;
· act as an administrator, supervisor or educator in the field of health care;
· sell products or services related to respiratory therapy;
· provide consultations for respiratory and related care, equipment and services; or
· conduct research related to respiratory therapy.
Inactive Members must meet all other registration requirements, including participation in the CRTO Quality Assurance Program.
For information on how to change your membership status from inactive to active, please review the "Returning to Active Status" fact sheet.
Inactive Members requesting a status change must await confirmation from the College of their status change before resuming active practice.
