In order to practice Respiratory Therapy in Ontario an applicant is required to meet the registration requirements of the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO).

The current criteria include, but are not limited to:

a) graduation from an educational program approved by the CRTO, and

b) successful completion of a CRTO approved examination.

At this time the CRTO accepts the Health Professionals Testing Canada (HPTC) Examination as the entry to practice examination (b, above).

Change from Graduate to General Certificate of Registration

To receive a General Certificate of Registration (RRT) a Graduate Member must:

• Successfully complete the HPTC examination, AND
• Submit a copy of the HPTC exam results letter to the College. This can be done by email, fax 416-591-7890 or mail (180 Dundas Street West, Suite 2103, Toronto, ON  M5G 1Z8).
